A449 LTD PRACTICE STATEMENT

A449 LTD is an award winning architectural practice based in Edinburgh with a growing reputation for high quality and innovative design, recognised through regular mentions in architectural press including the influential Architecture Scotland Annual. We have been finalists in national design competitions and were recently selected by the Scottish Government to help promote good quality housing design and placemaking throughout Scotland.

We have an enthusiastic approach to design and provide a professional, client centred service from feasibility to completion. We are committed to delivering imaginative and sustainable solutions with an emphasis on clarity and attention to detail throughout the entire process. We look ahead of immediate requirements to create flexible buildings which will adapt with the changing needs of a family or business.

Our service extends well beyond producing a set of drawings. We take pride in a role that allows us to interpret and improve how people interact with buildings and spaces. Our experience enables us to quickly recognise site conditions and opportunities, and mindful of context we realise the true potential of an idea through the use of effective design and careful detailing. We believe in the efficient use of budget, materials and space, and understand how aspect, light and orientation inform a project.

Successful delivery relies on collaboration. We work hard on the client relationship and collectively thrive on an open dialogue. Clients prize our operational qualities and satisfaction is based on our ability to add value and solve problems, proven by our track record of delivering high profile refurbishment, extension and new build projects on numerous challenging sites.

We are currently working on projects in Edinburgh, East Lothian and the Scottish Borders, together with projects in Northumbria, Sheffield, Cheshire and Hertfordshire. We are an RIAS Chartered Practice and are in the process of obtaining RIBA Chartered Practice accreditation.
