  • 10 A Must for Seafood Lovers

Skippers was recommended to my by a workmate and we went along one Saturday lunch time with no idea what to expect. How was I to know that I would soon find one of my favourite eateries, Ever!! The service at Skippers is second to none. We were greeted warmly by Anna who was friendly and attentive without being too intrusive. The menu in Skippers changes constantly to reflect the latest catch and the food is extremely fresh. We have since been back to Skippers with family and friends and it is the perfect place for a special occassion. Skippers boasts an extensive fresh menu and a welcoming, cosy atmosphere. I love the quirky decor and the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic twosome or for a brillaint time with friends. Skippers delivers a high standard of service and is basically a lovely place to be.

  • 8 Great Seafood Bistro

Skippers Seafood Bistro, sister establishment to The Waterfront Wine Bar and Grill, was one of the first seafood Bistros to open in Leith during the early stages of its gentrification in the 80s, and, along with The Waterfront and The Shore, is one of my favourite restaurants in Leith. The menu changes twice daily and is entirely informed by the day's catch. The Cullen Skink, the Shetland mussels, the Loch Etive oysters, and the Arbroath smokie reflect the commitment to local produce and traditional Scottish fair, and the rest of the menu is Franco-Scottish seafood and game. The restaurant has a lovely ambience, and shares with The Waterfront some outside seating by the Waters of Leith for when the weather is more clement.
