This Camera Obscura is situated at the top of the Royal Mile. It was established in 1850 and was originally known as Short's Observatory. Inside the building you can find a shop selling various books, photos and general photographic memorabilia. As you climb the six floors to the actual cameras, various historical and photographical pieces of information are positioned to let you stop, catch your breath and learn a little about cameras and camera abscuras.
there are some really fascinating exhibits here - for kids and adults. much more to look at than you might think - allow several hours for your visit. the victorian camera obscura on the top floor is still amusing and the views from the roof give a create impression of Edinburgh for any visitors.
